partnership-launch1Since the signing of the national Anglican-Methodist Covenant in 2003, St Mary’s and Barnet Brookside Methodist Church have worked closely together. After a process of consultation and exploration between the two congregations and denominational authorities, the East Barnet Anglican-Methodist Partnership for Mission & Ministry was formally and legally constituted in February 2008, on the Feast of Candlemas.

Together we are building links with East Barnet Baptist Church, Christ the King Cockfosters (Roman Catholic) and Barnet Synagogue.

In 2005 the Chair of the London North-West District, the Revd Anne Brown, and the Bishop of Hertford, the Rt Revd Christopher Foster, presided over the East Barnet Covenant Service when Colin & Richard’s ministries were mutually recognised and affirmed.

In October 2007, Richard Watson and Colin Smith were invited to make a presentation on their work in East Barnet to the national dialogue team between the Episcopal Church of the USA and the American United Methodist Church, meeting in London. Afterwards the Methodist Bishop, William Oden, wrote:

The time we had with you at Limehouse in October was both informative and inspirational. The work you are doing in East Barnet is a significant sign of the essence of faithful ecumenism.
