Children & Young People
Toddler Praise
Toddler Praise takes place in Church on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month, beginning at 10.30am. It is a great opportunity for parents and small children to meet and worship informally. Songs are set to nursery rhyme tunes, the children ring the church bells, listen to a bible story and each time there is a related craft activity – and refreshments, before heading home.
Please check our Facebook page for more details of Toddler Praise
Creche
During the 10am service there is an informal Creche area in the vestry to provide a bolt-hole for those who feel the need to escape! There are usually quite a few small children and babies at St Mary’s, and there are a number of play bags available at the back of church to keep little hands occupied!

Admission to Holy Communion
From School Year 2, children who have been baptised are given the opportunity to prepare for Admission to Communion (‘First Communion’) before they are Confirmed. Â In partnership with Brookside Methodist Church and St Mary’s School a short series of preparation classes are held, two sessions including their parents in discussing how they can best support their children on their journey of faith.
Those children who wish to be admitted to Communion take part in a special service, involving the whole church family, usually around Pentecost.
